“Possibly the future of Canadian Music”

-Gary Kendall, Bluestime Productions, Toronto, ON

“Within moments of hearing Zoubi and The Sea’s set, I was grabbed by their sound and stage presence. They filled the room with nothing but positive vibes. There was an infectious energy in the air while they were performing; something that is invaluable in the world of music! I look forward to seeing them go places.”

What is a Zoubi?  She is a quirky, quiet creature raised in the woods on Hornby Island, BC. In September 2017, her passion for music brought her to Toronto, Ontario where she is studying Independent Songwriting and Performance at Seneca College. A naturally magnetic performer, Zoubi plays finger-style guitar and engages with her audience emotionally while melding deep lyrics with simple, catchy melodies. Her folk-pop performance is reminiscent of Leslie Feist or Tegan and Sara. Off stage and on, Zoubi possesses an endearingly genuine creative spark which catches and holds your attention.

In 2015, Zoubi released her debut EP, Tumble and together with musician, Devarrow, she embarked on a release tour to Saskatchewan and back.  Returning to Victoria, BC, Zoubi gained momentum with new band, Zoubi and the Sea. In 2016 they performed many west coast festivals including Song and SurfRock of the WoodsTall TreeFernfest and Rifflandia. Gaining the attention of Atomique Productions also gave them the opportunity to be the supporting act for Jon and Roy, Tara Lightfoot and Rising Appalachia who described Zoubi and the Sea as “powerhouses with a laid-back, suave-jazz/punk-rock sound.” In 2017, they performed for Spirit of 150 in Victoria, BC before Zoubi left the band to move to Toronto.

Now advancing her career as a solo artist in Toronto, Ontario, Zoubi is rapidly gaining experience and making new connections in the entertainment business.
